Description
Snowy Owl among the beach grasses on top of a sand dune at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Massachusetts. Periodically large numbers of these majestic owls appear in the along the Northeast coast in what they call an irruption year. The owls move southward when winter food is scarce in the arctic.
